Phasing out Pennies

  • December 5, 2025

In November of 2025, the U.S. Mint stopped producing pennies due to rising production costs and limited use. As a result, Credit Union ONE is no longer able to order or sell back pennies to our cash supplier.

On January 1, 2026 we will no longer be accepting or distributing pennies.

If you have pennies to deposit, coin machines at grocery stores, charities, and churches may continue to accept them.

When cashing a check, you will receive change rounded to the nearest nickel. The remainder will be deposited or applied to a loan payment.

Debit, Credit, and ACH transactions will continue to process at exact amounts.
