What is a Credit Union?
A credit union is a member-owned not-for-profit financial cooperative. Unlike banks, credit unions are owned by their members and run by a volunteer Board of Directors elected by the members. This makes credit unions unique in that instead of paying stockholders we return the members money to them in the form of:
- Lower than average loan rates
- Higher than average savings rates
- Less and lower fees
- Many low or no-cost products and services
- Investments in technology
How do I Join Credit Union ONE?
Joining Credit Union ONE has never been easier. If you live, work, worship, or attend school in the State of Michigan you are eligible for membership in the credit union. If you are eligible you can join by purchasing a membership share of $1.00. This membership share is your "ownership" in the credit union and allows you all of the benefits that comes along with membership including:
